(Chapter 4: the calling)
Link and aurora walked across the green grass of the castle courtyard. The wind was blowing a gentle breeze across the grass. Link made his way up the stone steps towards the princess.
“So, you have arrived,” said princess zelda. Link jumped back in shock. Neither he nor aurora had said a thing, yet the princess was talking to them
“How… how did you know we were here?” asked link
“I have somewhat of a 6th sense.” Zelda replied, “I can tell when a person has entered a room or when a person is lying. It’s actually pretty useful.”
“Yeah, I guess so,” said link. “So why did you ask me to come here?”
“I asked you to come here, because of your destiny,” answered zelda
“What?” said link in a shocked tone. “What do you mean by my destiny?”
“Recently an evil man that goes by the name of Ganondorf has been causing havoc around Hyrule. He has burned villages, poisoned our lakes, and has even killed our people. Not even the children were spared from his wrath.” Zelda said in a quivering voice. “He’s killing my people and destroying the kingdom. So I searched the stars to find the one person who would stop him. The one person that would become a hero. That person is you link.”  Link jumped back is a state of shock.
“What am I supposed to do?” asked link in a loud worried voice, “I’m just a child, what am I supposed to do to a person that’s done all of that? How do you even expect me to fight him?”
“I’ve already thought of all that” said zelda simply. “Impa, please go retrieve the item that is stored in my room.”
“Impa?” link said a bit confused.
“Right away princess” replied a voice. Link turned around to find a woman standing right behind him. She was very tall compared to link; she had silver hair and strange markings on her face. She also carried a small sword concealed behind her waist.
“Who are you?” link asked the woman.
“I am Impa” she replied. “I am the princess’s care taker. I watch over her to make sure nothing happens to her that would prevent her from acting out her duties as princess of Hyrule. “Now if you’ll excuse me link, I must retrieve the item that the princess has asked for. Impa then turned around and left the room, leaving link and zelda to talk.
“So, what did you ask her to get?” link asked.
“An item that will help you on your journey” zelda replied. “It is one of many items passed down through the royal family.” Impa then returned to the room with a long wooden box in her arms. The box was carved with various symbols and designs that link had never seen before. One design caught his attention though; it was the large triangle in the middle of all the carvings, it stood out among the rest of them.
“What’s that?” link asked zelda.
“That link, is the triforce,” replied zelda. “It is the sacred symbol of the hylian royal family”
“The triforce….” link replied simply. “Then what’s in the box?”
“This is the item that will help you on your quest” zelda told him. Zelda took the box from Impa and opened it in front of link. Link was in aw of what he saw. It was a sword. A sword like he had never seen before, not that he ever had seen one before, it was small and light weight. It was almost like the sword was made exactly for him.
“This is the hero’s sword” zelda said. “This was the same sword that my great grandfather used when he first founded Hyrule after the war. It is well crafted and very reliable. It will keep you safe during battle.” Link took the sword out of the box with great care.
“Now link,” said zelda “in order to help us you need to go the six temples that surround Hyrule. There you will find the artifacts that are needed to help defeat Ganondorf.”
“Alright” said link. “I’ll try my best to get the artifacts.”
“No link” said Impa. “There is no trying. You either do or don’t get the artifacts. In this type of situation trying isn’t an option.” Link looked at Impa for a second. It was odd, he knew he was going to try his best, but he knew that deep down she was right, he couldn’t mess up, it was a do or do not situation.
“Alright” Link said, “I will get the artifacts, and help Hyrule.”
“Thank you Link” said zelda “may the way of the triforce keep you from harm.” With that link turned to leave the castle but was stopped by Impa.
“I will escort you out of the castle” started Impa. “If the guards find you, there will be a lot of trouble. Pleas follow me link.” Link didn’t have anything to say about that, he knew that she was probably right. So he followed Impa out of the castle.
“Now link” started Impa “here is where your journey will begin. You must collect three mystical amulets from the dungeons surrounding Hyrule. After you collect them you must go and retrieve the sacred sword.”
“The sacred sword?” like asked. “What’s that?”
“The sacred sword is a sword of great power like no other. There is not a weapon today that can challenge it in sheer power. It is because of that, that you must retrieve it.” Impa told link. “So now that you know what your goal is, I suggest you go now. You have a long path ahead of you and you must not fail to do this.  The princess has trusted you in this affair, do not let her down.” Link looked down at the ground and then back up at Impa.
“I will. I will collect the three mystic amulets and retrieve the sacred sword. I will not let princess zelda down.” Said link.
“Now that sounds like a hero” started Impa, “I now know why the princess has chosen you. Now if you look over in that direction” Impa pointed to an extremely large mountain “At the bottom of that mountain lies my home, kakariko village. It is there that you will begin your journey. However there is one thing to worry about. In order to get the base of the mountain, you will have to cross a great desert. It is not an easy task, but I have faith that you will make it across.” Link looked towards the mountains for a while before responding.
“Impa?” asked link.
“Yes?” replied Impa.
“How long do you think the trip across the desert will take?”
“Oh about a day or two” replied Impa.
“A DAY OR TWO!!!!” exclaimed link “IT’S GOING TO TAKE ME THAT LONG JUST TO CROSS IT?”
“Hey look at the bright side” interrupted aurora “this way you’ll get to work on your tan way.”
“You’re not helping any,” snapped link with an irritated tone in his voice.
“Hey, who said I was here to help? I’m just here to show you which way to go” aurora said with a slightly cocky tone in her voice. “I know this land like the back of my wings, you couldn’t find your way out of a conversation if I wasn’t here.”
“WHY YOU LITTLE…” started link.
“Now is not the time to fight link” interrupted Impa. “You have a long road ahead of you and you two need to work together in order to do it.”
“Yeah, your right” said link.
“Yeah, yeah. Can we get moving now?” said aurora with an impatient tone.
“Alright we’ll get moving,” replied link. “Your worse than mido I swear.”
“About time” snapped aurora “I was getting bored over here. Hylians talk too much,” and with that Link said goodbye to Impa and they left for kakariko village at the base of the distant mountain
